Prevention

Bright Stars Prevention Program (BSPP)

“For Youth…By Youth”
This program will empower youth to engage, build confidence to dream, invest time to educate others, and shine bright to positively affect our communities. BSPP works to equip youth with positive role models who will instruct on core ethical values and model how each value affects them in their perspective neighborhoods, homes, and schools. Through interactive workshops, we describe how to personalize each value and provide the right options through real life situations. This program works well as a supplemental or primary source for working with at-risk youth. We work with girls’ and boys homes and schools in the Chicagoland area. After speaking with your team of educators, we will design a solution specifically for your population.

Our curriculum includes:
  • It’s All in One Curriculum (a research-based unified approach to behavior intervention)
  • Life skills
  • Coping skills
  • Anger management
  • Healthy relationship building
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Personality-matched mentors (for the highest at-risk students)

My Life, My Choice

As one of the few Chicago-based providers of this national program, we at Dreamcatcher further the work of all those around the country who use this curriculum to encourage girls to become confident, strong, and self-respecting while staying away from commercial sexual exploitation.

Outreach

Reach for the Stars

“This is not an outreach program; this is a relationship program.”
Beginning Fall 2013, The Dreamcatcher Foundation rolled out a new relationship-based outreach program titled “Reach for the Stars”. The program’s focus is to connect our resources with as many women who have been sexually exploited and walk them through their road to recovery. TDF’s direct service staff and volunteers spend every Friday and Saturday night on the streets reaching out to victims. We travel to various locations all around the city where girls are trafficked or at high risk of being trafficked and hand out unassuming items with our information on it. We believe in a pressure-free approach to outreach and value the individual’s independence and choice. To find out more about this program or to volunteer for outreach, please contact us at info@thedreamcatcherfoundation.org.

Community Awareness Training/Consultation:

Our knowledgeable and experienced TDF staff will train community and school officials, churches, professionals, and corporations and create awareness of the reality of sex trafficking in neighborhoods across America to help stop these crimes from happening. We provide effective tools to reach your audience and ongoing professional advice for working with this population.
